Meet The Team


Richard was born in 1943 above the butcher’s shop in St James’ Street. He went to school locally at King Edward VII Grammar School and joined his father’s business at the age of 16. In 1969, Richard married Rosemarie and they became proud parents of two daughters and a son. To date, the family has increased with the addition of four granddaughters and four grandsons.


Terry started in the trade when he was 15 with a respected local butcher. He joined the Royal Norfolk Regiment in the catering section and for the past 8 years has been a stalwart in our business.


Joy is a wonderful asset to the shop and the maker of our pastries. She is a support in every aspect of our success. Every business needs a joy!


James is Richard’s nephew. He remembers fondly his first job at Bowers, working for his grandfather George, at the age of 13. He brings with him 18 years of experience in the catering industry where he has worked as Chef de Partie, in a Michelin star restaurant. James is passionate about food and is always keen to talk recipes.


Ed is our latest member of staff joining us in 2020. Ed has come from a chef’s background and has brought that creative talent, to bring new dishes to the counter deli counter and also to expand our range of sausages. A great addition to our team.
